Getting Involved

PM Wells Charter Academy requires families to volunteer 20 hours of their time during the school year. They have many opportunities to volunteer their time at school. This may include working in the classrooms; assisting with fundraisers and special events; attending workshops and PTC meetings; helping in the cafeteria and library media center; participating on a field trip; and purchasing items for the classroom or school.

Parents are required to log the volunteer hours in the volunteer binders in the main offices and enter anytime in SIS and OASIS. All OASIS applications must be filled out online at www.osceola.k12.fl.us. Click on parent resources and then volunteer opportunities. This must be done before you volunteer.

Parent Teacher Committee (PTC)

PMWCA PTC coordinates the fundraisers and family events at the school. Some events include book fairs, festivals, and dances. They do require volunteers to help make these events a success. PTC also holds several fundraisers throughout the year to earn extra money for the teachers and classrooms so that they may have the opportunity to get items that they normally would not receive and some fundraisers give students the chance to reduce the cost of their yearly field trips. The PTC is a great forum for any parent that wants to be involved in their child's education and help raise money for the "little extras". Volunteer hours can also be met by attending the PTC meetings once a month.

School Advisory Council

The purpose of the PM Wells School Advisory Council is to work to ensure improved student achievement. It's role is to serve as the appropriate avenue for authentic and representative input for all teachers, parents, support personnel, students, business community representatives and administration. Council members meet monthly and are expected to communicate with constituents to collect data and opinions for decision making; report to constituents the actions taken by the Council and consider the needs of all students when making decisions.

Student Advisory Council Members:

  • Chair: George Ojie-Ahamiojie
  • Co-Chair: Trinette Hylton
  • Secretary: Luz Martinez
  • Parent/Hispanic Representative: Zelenia Sanchez
  • Parent/Community Representative: Ronette Shelton-Williams

Volunteer Info

Volunteers are needed every day at PM Wells Charter Academy in both the elementary and middle school locations. Please ask your child's teacher about opportunities he/she has for you OR come by our office. We will always find someplace where your skills will benefit the teachers and students of our school.

Parents are required to log in their own volunteer hours on SIS and OASIS. Remember to check 'completed' once you have finished volunteering in the capacity you have submitted approval for. Use the same username and password for logging in volunteer hours as you do to view your child's grades. Here is a list of SOME of the things you can volunteer to do.:

  • Sort Lost & Found at middle school level (quarterly)
  • Change Bulletin Boards (should be updated by 1st of each month)
  • Decorate the buildings for the holidays (set up and remove)
  • Stuff and Stamp envelopes for Main Office
  • Set-up, chaperone, and clean-up at each dance
  • Assist in the Media Center
  • Sort mail and deliver to teacher mailboxes.
